How to Meditate Part 1: “Sitting Posture”

The part of our body we are primarily using when we meditate is our central nervous system and endocrine system along the spinal cord, so what is important about our sitting posture is that our spinal column rests active and extended.

 

How to Meditate Part 2: “Deep Breathing”

Combining Part 1 and Part 2 will provide anyone with enough practice for a lifetime. Meditating on the breath and witnessing the mind as a regular practice will provide all the rewards of meditation.

 

How to Meditate Part 3: “Alternate Nostril Breathing”

There is so much to this simple practice. This practice will greatly assist us in taming the mental chatter and bringing balance to the entire being.

 

How to Meditate Part 4: “Mantra”

Our mantra can truly be any word we choose. If we choose what makes us feel good, then we can feel good more often. According to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras; the word Om, pronounced with three syllables as A-u-m, is the sound of the origin of all that is. This would make a fine mantra.

 

How to Meditate Part 5: “Candle Flame Gazing”

The ability to control our thoughts. This is everything. This is the practice.  Soon we want to make our object of focus to be that which our heart resonates with the most.

 

How to Meditate Part 6: “Empathy Meditation”

Using everything we have learned so far, this meditation gives us a tool to be deeply connected and centered in the moment, while at the same time projecting focused thought with our mind’s eye. We can find everything within this simple and powerful practice.
